Privacy Policy
Finito is a desktop application that runs entirely on your Mac. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. This page describes exactly what the app does and does not do, in enough detail that you can verify it yourself.
The short version. Your audio never leaves your computer. Finito collects nothing about you and sends nothing anywhere. The only network request the app makes is a check for a newer version.
Your audio
Every part of Finito that touches sound runs locally: loading, analysis, real-time playback, mastering, repair, and export. Audio is read from the file you choose, processed on your Mac, and written to the location you pick when you export.
Your audio is never uploaded, streamed, transmitted, or copied off your machine by Finito. There is no cloud processing, no upload queue, and no remote rendering.
This includes Smart Analysis. Finito's suggestions come from measurements performed on your Mac and from a machine-learning model that ships inside the app and runs on-device through Apple's Core ML framework. No audio, no extracted features, and no analysis results are sent anywhere.
Temporary files
While you work, Finito writes intermediate renders to your Mac's temporary folder so it can play back a mastered version without re-processing. These files stay on your computer, are superseded as you make changes, and are cleared when you load a new track. Exports go only to the location you choose.
Information Finito collects
None. Finito has no user accounts, no sign-in, no licence keys, no telemetry, no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifiers, and no cookies. It does not read your contacts, your location, your other files, or your listening history. Nothing you do in the app is recorded or reported.
Your settings, presets, saved sessions, and window layout are stored on your own Mac, in your user library and wherever you choose to save session files.
Network connections
Finito makes network requests for exactly one purpose: checking whether a newer version has been released, and downloading it if you choose to update.
- The app requests
https://www.finitomusic.com/releases/appcast.xmlandhttps://www.finitomusic.com/releases/latest.json. Automatic checking runs about once a day, and you can turn it off in the app's settings. - If you accept an update, the app downloads the new version from
https://www.finitomusic.com/releases/. Updates are cryptographically signed, and the signature is verified before anything is installed.
Like any request to any website, these reveal your IP address and the version of Finito making the request to the web server, which records them in ordinary server logs. That is the whole extent of it: no identifier is attached, nothing is set in your browser or the app, and these logs are not used to build a profile, are not combined with anything else, and are not sold or shared.
Finito does not send a system profile. Sparkle, the open-source update framework Finito uses, can optionally report hardware and OS details along with an update check. That feature is switched off in Finito.
Separately, if you click the "Buy me a coffee" link, your default browser opens Buy Me a Coffee's website. That is a visit to a third-party site under their own privacy policy, and it happens only if you click it.
Third parties
There are no third-party services inside Finito. No advertising network, no analytics provider, no payment processor, and no data broker receives anything from the app, because the app sends them nothing.
Finito is built on open-source components, including the Sparkle update framework, NumPy, SciPy, libsndfile, and the LAME MP3 encoder. These run locally as part of the app; none of them phone home.
If you email me
If you write to frankiefinito@gmail.com, I will have your email address and whatever you put in your message, for as long as the message sits in my mailbox. I use it to answer you and to fix the problem you reported. I do not add you to a mailing list, and I do not pass your address to anyone else.
If you send an audio file to help me reproduce a bug, I use it only for that, and I delete it when the issue is resolved. Never send anything you are not comfortable sharing.
Children
Finito is a tool for music production and is not directed at children. Since it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Your rights
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data a company holds about you. Finito holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing to request, correct, or erase. Your settings and sessions live on your Mac and are yours to delete at any time by removing the app and its files.
If you have emailed me and want that correspondence deleted, ask and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If Finito ever changes what it does with data, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the release notes. The date at the top always reflects the current version of this policy.
